Posted by admin at 10:48 PM 0 comments

CBS, the pioneering community for cebuano bloggers now on its 3rd year and still standing strong.  It still stand to its aim to promote Cebu heritage, blogged anything on what it has to offer to the world and with a strong bond of dedicated and innovative Cebuano bloggers that shared an aim for Cebu. Needless to say, we are bloggers of different genres or interest to write but we are always proud of our roots and organization. Online networking can be known as sensation of what any kind to promote for so as the influence of bloggers who wrote them that we CBS proudly tops them all. It started as a group of few bloggers that created a group of bloggers' friends/ clique, created a buzz and then it became a formal sectarian or registered organization that reaches out to different civic and private institutions that made the group renowned and distiguished not only for non-profit online marketing but also in terms of social services such as outreach programs, gift giving, educational seminars and the like. It enhaces not only the potential of CBS members who participated the  events but also for those needs to get aid and novice to learn something. No wonder a lot of cebuano bloggers who seem to be just hiding on their screen names online are  getting interested to join the group and we became dominating and powerful voice. We're just in our third year and we have more lot to say for the coming years so lets all keep pushing the bounderies of learning and discovery for Cebu Bloggers Society to go beyond...Cheers to another year of blogging!

JEWELMER’S Luster for Life: A pearl exhibit

Posted by admin at 12:03 PM 0 comments
Experiencing the Luster in Cebu

Together with the Cebu Bloggers Society INC. I was about to experience  the Luster in Cebu  .  Jewelmer  invited some Bloggers to discus about how cultures pearl  were engineered. They show us how the pearl was made and how many years it takes.

While listening i discover that  the pearl is our national jewelry, even in high school i never knew we have a national jewelry honestly thanks to jewelmer  for the historic info .

JEWELMER’S Luster for Life: A pearl exhibit opened in Ayala Center Cebu last July 23. Located at the Rotunda, 1st Level Activity Center of the popular shopping destination, this modular exhibition is a visual tour of the golden South Sea pearl’s journey from farm to fine jewelry and is part of the company calls the “Jewelmer Experience”.
The Jewelmer Experience engages the senses. It’s everything from the color of our showrooms, the interaction of clients with our people, our imagery, and philosophy. All of these are but a small part of the whole Experience. Its quite difficult to explain,” says Jewelmer’s Retail Manager Catrina Paulino, “it really should be experienced to be fully appreciated.” Paulino goes on, “The Luster for Life exhibit, in particular, shares our brand values in a visual and engaging way.”

First launched in the Marquee mall at Pampanga, the exhibition has since made its way to Glorietta 4 in Makati City before landing in Cebu and will continue making its rounds in premier shopping destinations in the Philippines within the year. “ The Jewelmer showroom in Cebu opened back in 1994. However, this is the first time we brought an exhibit here,” says Paulino.

The Luster for Life exhibit is composed of six main panels: Palawan South Sea pearls, Luster for Life, The Miracle of the Rare Golden Pearl, European Elegance, An Environmental Gem, and A Nation’s Pride Each segment features a combination of vivid imagery and descriptive text. Also included in the exhibit are the actual tools used for pearl cultivation, a pearl diorama, and some unique pieces that are part of Jewelmer’s fine jewelry collections.

Palawan, the Last Frontier
Jewelmer’s pearl farm is located in the pristine marine environment of the province of Palawan, in what is considered by most to be the Philippine’s last frontier.
This group of 1,700 islands is home to flora and fauna found nowhere else in the world as well as one of the few places that the gold-lipped Pinctada maxima oyster, the only bivalve capable of producing the golden South Sea pearl, can grow.

Luster for Life
When women wear pearls, it is she who glows. Pearls have the unique ability to enhance the beauty of its wearer, rather than call attention to itself. This is because of its luster, or the warm glow of the gem.

The luster is described as the pearl’s outer sheen and surface brilliance and is created when light passes through thousands of layer of nacre, the substance that makes up a pearl. Jewelmer’s South Sea pearls possess thick, translucent layers of natural nacre that gives their pearls a unique luster that the company has come to be known for.

The Miracle of the Rare Golden Pearl
Jewelmer is the only pearl producer in the world that has successfully produced pearls with a rich, natural golden color. Through decades of research and biotechnology, Jewelmer was able to perfect the breeding process that produces gold-lipped Pinctada maxima pearl oysters capable of growing large, lustrous, golden pearls. This deep, rich color can only be found in South Sea pearls produced in the Philippines.

European Elegance
The design process is the ultimate exercise in creativity. It can proceed both ways, with designers beginning with a piece in mind to adorn with selected pearls, or starting from the pearl itself and creating a design around it.
Inspired by nature, each piece is a product of east and west working together on such a delightful material, pearl lovers are bound to be always surprised.
A team of Italian, French, and Filipino artists draws inspiration from a multitude of sources and creates exquisite designs that enhance the beauty of each pearl. These designs are then executed by highly-skilled Swiss and Filipino goldsmiths and artisans.

Exclusive to the Cebu leg of the exhibit are three South Sea pearl collector pieces: a baroque pearl strand necklace and an eagle brooch. The strand necklace is composed of 49 large, natural silvery-blue baroque South Sea pearls set with 18-karat white gold, while an irregularly shaped, large baroque South Sea pearl inspires the body of an bejeweled eagle made of gold and diamonds. Both of these one-of-a-kind pieces were part of a recently concluded international pearl exhibition held in Qatar, UAE.

An Environmental Gem
A lustrous South Sea pearl is the reflection of the health and beauty of the environment where it was cultivated. In the face of globally dwindling natural resources, Philippine pearl farmers give back to Mother Nature and become stewards of marine life. Thus, Jewelmer is committed to a unique kind of pearl farming: a non-extractive, environmentally sound process, which ensures that nature remains protected and unexploited.

A Nation’s Pride
The pearl is the Philippine’s national gem, the best representative of a land rich in natural resources as well as people with smiles as warm and welcoming as a golden pearl.

Finally, on October 15, 1996, former President Fidel V. Ramos concretized the pearl’s role in Philippine culture through Presidential Proclamation No. 905.

The proclamation acknowledges the South Sea Pearl's role in the country's socio-economic & cultural tradition as well as the gem's part in the promotion of Filipino heritage and as a support of its national development efforts.

Jewelmer continues to share the spirit of the Philippines through the warm, lustrous glow of the South Sea pearl: a true living gem and the pride of a nation.

Watch out for the The Luster for Life: A pearl exhibit in TriNoma, Quezon City later this month, at Alabang Town Center, and at Greenbelt 5 at the heart of Makati later this year.

The Pearl of Your Life

Everything a woman of substance could possibly want is in this unique gem

IT DOESN’T hurt that, in its most perfect form, it is breathtakingly beautiful, capturing the glow of thousands of days’ worth of sunlight and moonrises in its trademark luster. Yet, as every modern woman who knows her worth has come to realize—whether she’s a nurturer or partner, worker or leader, enabler or trailblazer—you’ll need much more than beauty to make a difference in the world today.

The pearl is known as a living gem, the only jewel born of dynamic and organic forces in the marine ecosystem that is its cradle. It is conceived, grown, and completed within a cycle of life that includes a myriad of other living things. Remarkably, it continues to evolve long after it has been set in precious metal as a piece of jewelry, interacting with the warm skin of its owner to bring forth a countenance that is unique to each pearl. Thus, there is a pearl for every woman, and every woman deserves a pearl.

A hundred years of artistry and technical expertise have taken the cultured pearl to new heights, and the South Sea pearl, born of the noble Pinctada maxima oyster, rules over them all. For 30 years, Jewelmer has coaxed the finest South Sea pearls into existence in its model and state-of-the-art farm in southern Palawan, the Philippines’ “last frontier,” where the environment has remained largely pristine, allowing pearls to grow in peace and perfection. In other words, it is a jewel solidly backed by respect for nature and harmony with the world.

In particular, Palawan has produced the rare gem that is the golden South Sea pearl, among the rarest and most sought-after the world over, and the National Gem of the Philippines.

Jewelmer’s years of experience in integrated pearl farming, matching, manufacture, and sale, complemented by the finest in both European and Asian jewelry design, setting, and quality, have resulted in outstanding pieces, wise and worthy investments that can last a lifetime—and tangible celebrations of a woman’s true worth.

Maribago 21st

Posted by admin at 5:56 PM 0 comments
It's another milestone for Maribago Bluewater Resort and Spa as it Celebrate's its 21st Anniversary. It was a blast of night celebration held in the Maribago resort's ground. With its festive aura that comes with a live performing band, guests are enjoying that important night for the resort.

It started with a cocktail along with a short program and performances that the resort usually offers to their guests. I've been in the resort for quite several times in different functions but it never fail to entertain us with their graceful dancers, along with their jamming beat of live band performances. But what created a trademark on me is their sumptuous and delicious buffet meal in different themes.

They offer Filipino favorite meals to Japanese,Italian and others that also ignites foreign guests to love staying in the resort. You may check out my previous posts for the resort to get a better idea why it is fun to enjoy the Maribago experience.

A new Cat in Town: Coffee Cat

Posted by admin at 11:56 AM 0 comments

There's a new Cat on the block...and its here in Cebu!. If you want to find a more relaxing coffee shop that comes with a delightful dine in experience then "Coffee Cat" is always ready to serve. The newest and the only Coffee Cat coffee shop in Cebu had its opening last Friday that really enticed not only the invited guests but especially their future customers that worked or just within E-Bloc in J.P. Morgan Bldg or anybody that's in  I.T. Park ,Lahug Cebu City. Contact Center agents and those corporate employees had another great choice of coffee shop to taste brewed and delicious coffees along with cafe beverages and pastries.

After first opening its doors in May 2009 in Torres Street, Davao City, Coffeecat marks yet another milestone with its second branch, this time in Cebu, at the Asiatown IT Park’s newest high-rise development, the eBloc Tower. The Asiatown IT Park branch is Coffeecat’s first foray into the exciting Cebu market. With its passion for coffee and excellence, Coffeecat promises to further enrich the highly developed coffee culture scene in this city already spoiled with choices. Coffeecat serves the pure goodness of 100% premium Arabica coffee, making it not just another brew in the City.

The name ‘Coffeecat’ is the product of an intriguing play of words coupled with a serendipitous association to a cat-sized mammal called a civet cat, which has a close affinity towards coffee berries.

The concept for Coffeecat was born out of a dream of creating a new type of meeting place –one that mixes modern, industrial, and minimalist elements yet retains a warm and cozy ambiance for good conversations, great beverages and delectable dishes. This is a meeting place that recognizes the Filipinos’ cultural tradition of taking a break from daily workday life and relaxing in the company of others. These, combined with the Italian coffee culture and influence of the North American pastry tradition all came together in the vision of Coffeecat.

At Coffeecat, each beverage is meticulously prepared and carries with it a memory of the taste and sensation inspired by the founders’ travels to other countries. The essence of various origins is captured in each drink to give one that 'holiday' sensation of being giddy and lighthearted, perfect for bonding moments with family and friends, making Coffeecat a cozy place for relaxing and celebrating all of those life moments. From precious family time, hearty laughter with friends, some needed alone time with a good book and cup of brew, private discussions with colleagues and sweet moments with a special someone, Coffeecat is a celebration of coffee and life.

Coffeecat is 90 square meters of stylish and chic space which can accommodate a total of 60 guests with its indoor and outdoor seating combined. The café specializes in expertly handcrafted beverages made from premium coffee blend illy®, a careful balance of 9 types of pure Arabica beans from South and Central America, India and Africa which createsthe unmistakable illy flavor always identical in any espresso cup, wherever it is drunk around the world; non-coffee drinks like Avalanche Ice Blends and its signature product – Yogo Premium Frozen Yogurt in Original or Green Tea Flavors.

Yogois the finest frozen yogurt made with the freshest ingredients, a mixture of fresh non-fat organic yogurt with probiotics and organic skimmed milk. Yogo promotes a positive feeling by serving a delicious tasting treat that is good for both body and mind. With optional fruit toppings available, it can help make up ones 5-a-day diet.

Other products include specialty teas, pastries, light snacks and short orders. Guests may also check their email, download a file before a meeting, or simply browse the internet by logging on to Coffeecat’s in-store free wireless internet service aptly called wireless@coffeecat.

We were invited on their Cebu launch last friday (July 15) and got to taste their delightful treats. I had their "Iced Mocha Espresso coffee drink" it's a mix of  of chocolate and steamed milk  where you can order it hot or with iced. For sure they will maintain the freshness and highly developed coffee culture scene with  its dynamic, outwit and young managing team like JC  Tan (President and General Manager), Eugene tan ( V-President and Director for Finance) and Marie Peluchi Tan ( Corporate Secretary and District Manager for Cebu). kudos to Coffeecat for a good venture and see you guys soon again in the shop. hehe...
